Hurricane Season
It is that time of year again. With Hurricane Irene not out of our memory, the 2012 hurricane season is just around the corner. The official start of the six month long Atlantic hurricane season starts on June 1, 2012. Even before the season officially gets underway, for the first time in over a decade there has already been two named storms, Tropical Storms Alberto and Beryl. Tropical Storm Beryl disrupted Memorial Day plans for many in Florida and Georgia.
The National Weather Service has predicated near normal hurricane activity for this year, meaning that there may be up to 15 named storms, and four “major hurricanes” (Winds greater than 111mph).
